Cloud Grog 4oz

Description

Flecks + Specks Cloud Grog creates a high-contrast speckled, or "dotted," texture that remains visible under glazes.

Use L Grog (20 mesh) for bold effects in hand building and wheel throwing. Soft clay is recommended for throwing and trimming with L Grog.

Flecks + Specks grog is made from colored clay that is fired, crushed, and separated by size. Besides adding strength to the clay like traditional grogs, this grog adds texture and color to the clay. Adding grog is an easy way to personalize ceramic wares.

For wheel-throwing, wedge grog into your clay before you throw, and this will evenly distribute the grog throughout the clay body. For hand building, wedge the grog into the clay if you want it incorporated into the clay, or sprinkle the grog on top of slabs and set with a rolling pin. For a more intentional placement, simply press the grog into soft clay with your fingers.

Grog can also be added to glaze for sculptural surfaces to add texture and unique surfaces. Adding grog to glaze is not recommended for functional pottery surfaces.

All colors of Flecks + Specks Grog are food safe when glazed with a food safe glaze. The grog is also microwave, and dishwasher safe.
