Due to an unexpected change in material availability, Elkhorn Red has undergone a temporary reformulation. We feel confident in its fired performance, glaze response, and workability. However, you may notice a slight shift in feel and color, particularly in its moist form. We recommend that you test it before putting into production. This affects all batches dated after #05282606
Elkhorn Red Stoneware ^6 is our newest cone 6 iron-rich stoneware. It is extremely plastic and forgiving for both throwing and handbuilding. With just a bit of tooth for workability, it does not feel gritty when throwing. Easy-to-throw and trim. Fires a dark brick red at cone 6 that gives glazes a warmth and depth reminiscent of reduction firing.
Excellent for large plates and platters as well. Fits our Super Clear glaze with no crazing!
