Everyone loves Dark Star! If you like speckles in your clay but are looking for a body that keeps your glazes brighter, check out this new clay body. Based off of our very popular Ice Man clay body, Dark Star is easy to throw and handbuild with and is very forgiving, smooth, and plastic.

Matures cone 5-6. SLOW SPEED FIRING will help avoid little bloats if your kiln fires too hot. If fired past Orton witness cone 6 at 3 0'clock melt it will bloat. Always use guide cones when firing!

Shrinkage 11.5%  Absorption at ^6  .9%

WE ALWAYS, ALWAYS RECOMMEND SLOW FIRING SPEEDS IN BOTH BISQUE AND GLAZE WHEN USING ANY CLAY BODY THAT CONTAINS MANGANESE SPECKS DUE TO OFF GASSING. This allows the gasses time to escape properly from the ware.
